What to do with that old PC?

Got an old computer laying around? Pentium 1 or 2 class maybe? If you're like most households the answer is yes, it's in the closet, under the desk, etc. It's been off for awhile now, ever since you bought that new Vista or XP machine. I have any number of these sorts of computers, seems a shame to waste them, don't want to land fill them... I turned one into a world clock, complete with timezones in my favorite places. It also doubles as a classical music server, (King FM makes a nice destination) and plays all day while I work.

For this particular one, I took a very old (about 9 years) PC I had laying around and added our clock software, it makes very minimal demands on a system so even a real wimpy PC should do. I also had a used flat panel display that I removed the stand from, which is a lot nicer than a CRT and you can find this stuff dirt cheap on eBay. After hanging it on the wall, I added the shortcut for the clock program to the startup folder (in case of power outtage) and defined some clocks and positions and started up Windows Media Player (in the lower left corner). It took about a half hour to setup, unplugged the keyboard and mouse and I've had it running now for about 2 years.
