Westclox

Westclox or the western clock company of Lasalle Peru Illinois made some very nice clocks. Here are some images from their both their hayday and the now largely abandoned factory. Those interested in identifying their timepieces should consult the vintage westclox site which has a wealth of information including an extensive catalogue of "knock off and fake" Westclox's that seem to be showing up on eBay.

Westclox made several wonderful models all around this basic small solid metal design. They were heavy, cast metal which was then nickle plated and is in most cases really quite nice. My only knock on these, and many of them are beautiful, is that they chose a really very dated and (i think ugly) looking font for the face. They could have done so much better...

This is a "Moonbeam", the yellow plastic conceals a small light which has a switch at the back. The glow at night is warm and pleasant.

What would my generation have done without the "Big Ben"alarm clock? Probably late for class...

A very nice alarm clock, late 1930's. The model name is "Spur", it has crisp, classic styling. It's also really loud, I can't imagine sleeping next to it.

The only pocket watch I have here other than my great grandfather's, it's actually a ladies "purse" watch. I like this particular model, the styling is very nice, the face spare; though I will freely admit it's not entirely authentic. I didn't like the rather cheap white plastic that it was encased in so I repainted the white with a modern hammered black gloss. The results are great...I use this as my day-to-day watch. It get's a fair amount of comment going through the x-ray machines at airports.
