Sessions Clock Co.

Sessions was formed as a company in 1903 but has roots, like a lot of other New England clock companies, in much earlier operations. In the 1930's they recognized that electric clocks were "going to be big" and literally attacked the Art Deco movement with a vengence. Unfortunately (at least in my eyes) so much of what they produced seems cheap and, as is the case with all design movements as they run their course, over the top. I can find very few clocks from them that I find visually appealing, these two are exceptions and they did produce some nice Catalyn ones as well. They also did some nice chrome round kitchen wall clocks, I keep meaning to buy one...

I like this square wall mount, interesting two-toned red and black font, larger sword hands and the geometric sides meeting into the center.

This is my favorite Sessions bakelite clock. It seems hard to find examples of this clock that are in pristine condition though. This example has some obvious discoloring around the left foot. Still the face is beautiful and the hands that they chose are simple but nice.
